The Bay Islands of Honduras (not including Cayos Cochinos) has been declared a Free Tourist Zone. This has been done in order to promote national and foriegn investment in the Bay Islands in order to create a sustainable tourism industry. The introduction of merhandise, assets, or services shall be exempted from the payment of taxes, customs duties, import duties, special charge taxes, sales taxes, production taxes, consumption taxes, or value added tax.
